| For the further development of different areas of your local medium, cooperation with a university or university of applied sciences may be an option. In a student project, issues relating to process optimization or new target group-oriented content could be addressed. This gives you an outside perspective, an often cheaper option than the same offer on the open market and the opportunity to get to know potential future employees. For example, the Zürcher Oberländer has worked with ETH Juniors to develop a standardized filing system. One type of cross-publisher training can be found at the Italian Sicilian Post. The medium organizes multi-day workshops on journalism topics. This not only provides media professionals with further training, but also allows them to network. As early as 2022, Grubenmann and Weber called for “initial funding for new training and further education programs with a specific focus on local journalism/new needs of local publishers” (2022, p. 32).
