BACK TO LOCAL MEDIA
“We have a program every Tuesday called ‘Faut voir avec le maire’. This means that every Tuesday in the Matinale, the mayor of a municipality reports on his village and/or projects related to his village.”
- Editor-in-chief at Radio Fréquence Jura, translated from French
The town of Uster invites us to lunch once a year, the mayor with the town clerk. That’s an important exchange.”
- Editor of Zürcher Oberland Medien AG, translated from German
Stakeholder management is particularly important, especially at a local level. Good relationships with business, politics, etc. can be established, for example, through an annual informal exchange. Radio Fréquence Jura, for example, cultivates a professionalized type of exchange with the series “Faut voir avec le maire”, which invites the chairperson of a municipality in the Jura to appear on the show every week. This gives the chairpersons airtime and, especially in small municipalities, the feeling that they are being considered in the media. The radio, in turn, can build trust and a relationship with the municipal presidents by visiting them on site and, if necessary, obtain further interesting information ‘off the record’, which can be a source for the next report. Of course, this relationship building with stakeholders must be managed professionally – journalistic independence must be always guaranteed.
